I recently picked up this MGB GT as an unfinished project from a bodyshop where it had undergone a full respray a couple of years ago but had remained under a sheet and untouched since. I spent the past few months putting it back together and getting it on the road to use as my wedding car last weekend. The car is lovely and a lot of fun to drive but I don't have the time to fully enjoy it so it's time to find a new owner.

I have tried to keep the car very original but there are a coupe of mods which includes a single 12v battery (mounted in the original location), a battery cut off switch behind the drivers seat as an added security measure. The windscreen washer pump button didn't produce sufficient pressure so I installed an electric washer pump and a period style Lucas switch on the dashboard to replace it. There was a cigarette lighter socket mounted in the centre console but this was damaged so I replaced it with a twin usb charging socket instead which has a black cover so it it pretty discrete. I have also fitted inertia reel seat belts for the front seats. As far as I'm aware that is it for non standard parts but this is my first one of these so I don't have anything to judge it by, they are however the only modern things on the car. I do not know if the cylinder head has been modified for unleaded petrol but i have dropped a spitfire lead additive pellet pack into the tank which is good for 10 years or 10,000 miles.

The car is a 4 synchro version with a fully functioning overdrive working on both 3rd and 4th gears. I ran out of time in finishing the car so I didn't get chance to send it to a rolling road for tuning and it runs a little lumpy at low revs but pulls strong in all gears, has solid oil pressure and doesn't overheat.

I spent somewhere in the region of £2000 on new parts when putting the car back together and replacing missing bits, some of the large items include a new exhaust system, a new carpet set, I had the wire wheels refurbed and powder coated (set of 5) plus loads of small bits and pieces ( there is a folder full of receipts).

The odometer is showing just under 20,000 miles and I dont have any old mots to back this up but the dvla record shows this to be a likely accurate figure and the car certainly doesn't feel like a 120,000 mile car. I have covered around 300 miles since getting it on the road in August and it hasn't given a moments bother.
However the car is almost 50 years old so there are a few marks and bits of damage. The drivers seat has a small hole in the fabric and the foam is showing and there is some wear to the top edge of the rear seat. I redyed the seats and they have come up looking very good but the damage is still there. The dash finish is chipped in places, especially where the keys hang and would benefit from being looked at, I repainted the glove box and it came up very well but now it shows up the rest of the dashboard. The headlining was in a very poor condition and i dyed this too, It now looks really good but the colour is a bit of a mismatch from the original so when i fitted the new C pillar trims at the back I dyed these to match the headlining, it is more of a cream colour than a grey now. Both bumpers are showing some signs of corrosion to the chrome but are not rotten.

The logbook lists the car as damaged repaired and this might account for the low millage. The bodyshop said they repaired the rear N/S quarter and apart from the rear windows being tricky to fit I can't find any signs of damage to the car and everything else bolted in fine.

I would recommend coming and having a look at the car and it can be viewed pretty much any day by appointment. I am also happy to answer any questions you might have and can supply additional pictures if requested.
